We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is passionate about technology, people, and innovation. You will play a key leadership role in driving technical excellence, team development, and continuous improvement within a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering environment.
This position is hybrid (2 days/week work from the office), based in Bucharest, Romania.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence. Your mission is to empower teams to deliver scalable, high-quality digital solutions that enhance customer experience and drive business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, supporting them through technical challenges, career development, and continuous learning.
- Foster a positive engineering culture that encourages ownership, innovation, and growth.
- Collaborate with architects and senior developers to define best practices, maintain clean code, and ensure high standards for reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Champion modern engineering principles and advocate for quality-driven development.
- Ensure successful project delivery across teams by promoting agile methodologies (SCRUM/KANBAN), managing priorities, and proactively removing blockers.
- Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical goals.
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering Leaders to define product roadmaps and translate business goals into impactful technical solutions.
- Facilitate strong cross-functional alignment and transparency throughout the development lifecycle.
- Encourage experimentation and technical exploration through dedicated innovation initiatives.
- Promote a mindset of continuous improvement in both processes and technologies.
- Contribute to the growth and establishment of the local engineering organization.
- Help shape engineering culture and align technical direction with global best practices and strategic objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role.
- Strong hands-on experience with modern web technologies and cloud architectures (e.g., Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, GCP).
- Proven track record of leading agile teams and delivering complex, scalable web applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire trust, clarity, and motivation within teams.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
