For one of our clients, we are recruiting a Commodity Direct Buyer.
He/She will be part of a 20+ memebers team and will report to the Commodity Manager
The role is hibrid (3 days/week of office work and 2 from home)
Key Responsibilities
1. Supplier Relationship Management
- Own and manage supplier relationships within the assigned commodity scope.
- Monitor supplier performance through regular KPI reviews and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead supplier performance evaluations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Coordinate supplier development initiatives in collaboration with Quality and Development teams.
- Support resolution of operational issues in accordance with defined escalation processes.
- Act as the primary procurement contact for assigned suppliers, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Ensure supplier compliance with contractual agreements and company standards.
- Organize and lead regular business reviews with suppliers (quality, delivery, cost, development).
- Drive alignment and progress on recovery or improvement plans.
2. Cost & Productivity Management
- Contribute to annual operating plan and strategic objectives for the assigned scope.
- Lead execution and follow-up of cost reduction and productivity initiatives (negotiations, value engineering, resourcing).
- Conduct commercial negotiations with assigned suppliers.
- Optimize working capital through payment terms, inventory management, and consignment stock strategies.
- Ensure contractual compliance and proper execution of capital expenditure commitments.
- Support commodity strategy deployment under the guidance of the Commodity Manager.
3. Panel & Supplier Strategy
- Support implementation of commodity and supplier panel strategies.
- Collect and align operational requirements from internal stakeholders (project and production needs).
- Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and technology developments.
- Lead new supplier onboarding processes, including supplier scouting, assessments, and development activities.
- Partner with internal buyers on sourcing decisions and business awards within the assigned sub-commodity scope.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Procurement or Strategic Sourcing (Direct).
- Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry is preferred.
