About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Purchasing to lead the procurement function within our manufacturing operations.
This role is responsible for managing sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and cost performance across multiple categories and geographies.
You will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity for a key region of our global manufacturing footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and STRAP (Strategic Plan) objectives for all assigned commodities.
- Lead a team of procurement professionals, ensuring alignment with global procurement standards and local manufacturing needs.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, risk, sustainability, and supply continuity.
- Manage and negotiate supplier contracts, performance metrics, and long-term agreements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, and Quality to support product launches, cost reductions, and innovation sourcing.
- Lead supplier development initiatives and foster strategic partnerships with key vendors.
- Track market trends, risks, and geopolitical factors that could impact supply or cost.
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, ethics standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Coupa) to ensure data integrity and spend visibility.
- Support global initiatives in supplier diversity, ESG, and digital transformation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement, with 5+ years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing direct materials, ideally across multiple sites or regions.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance management skills.
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, cost structures, and commodity markets.
- Experience working in a matrixed, multinational organization.
- Proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Ariba).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
