For one of our clients, a well-known food/non-food e-commerce supplier, we are recruiting a mid/senior Big Data Enginner, focused on cloud - GCP.

‍Your tasks:

• As a Data Engineer with a focus on Cloud Data Warehousing, you will be part of the Data Intelligence Team, which manages the majority of our data pipelines into our Business Data AI Platform (BDAP). The BDAP is a highly modern cloud analytics platform in GCP, organized as a data mesh.
• You contribute to the provisioning of terabyte-scale relational data to the data mesh and, with it, to a highly motivated, creative, and proficient team of data service developers (data engineers, data scientists). Modern data services with high business impact then make use of this data to, for example, use deep learning models to estimate customer demand.
• You will contribute to a custom-tailored data management framework that combines modern cloud data warehousing best practices with state-of-the-art database and data processing technologies like Google BigQuery and Google Dataflow.
• You are in control of shaping the self-built system architecture on a deep level with Python, Kubernetes, Google APIs/SDKs, GitLab CI/CD, as well as the development of our data models in our highly automated layered architecture using data vault for raw data and a flexible business layer for data marts and custom data models.
• You will join a strong team of Business Analytics, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers, with whom you will be in close contact to provide the right level of data and service quality to the data mesh and our corporate stakeholders. Your profile:

• Min. 5 year’s experience in data engineering in a cloud environment
• You have successfully completed a degree in computer science, mathematics, physic, business administration, or a comparable qualification and have professional experience in the business intelligence environment.
• You feel at home on Google cloud platform
• Your Python programming is fluent, and you are familiar with database architectures, preferably massive parallel processing databases.
• Strong DBT skill
• Experience with streaming and messaging is an advantage (pub/sub, Kafka, etc.)
• You have experience with the challenges and best practices of relational data management or Data Warehousing in a mid to large-scale data volume setting.
• Your distinctive technical-analytical thinking, as well as a structured and solution-oriented way of working, distinguish you.
• Agile and open mindset and sense of responsibility
• In addition, you have a good command of both written and spoken English.
